Configuring a Receiver to Transmit Using a TDL450B UHF Radio
Use the following steps to configure the Trimble® Access™ software, your base receiver, and the TDL450B radio so that the receiver can send corrections to the radio using a cabled connection.
Supported receivers
- R Series receivers
Minimum firmware version required for the following receivers:
o R980, R12i, R12, R10-2, R780 - 6.24
o R10 - 5.64
Setting up the TDL450B radio
- Configure the radio’s over-the-air settings and connect the base receiver to the radio using the appropriate cable (P/N 130918 for serial LEMO ports used with base receiver R980,R12I,R12,R10-2, R10 or P/N 130916 for USB LEMO ports used with base receiver R780). CAUTION – DO NOT USE THE SAE CONNECTOR OF THE 56659-HH OR 66656-00 This could result in damage to the TDL450B radio.
2. From the home screen of the radio display, press the OK key to enter the main menu.
3. Scroll down to the Device Settings menu and press OK.
4. Scroll down to the Serial port settings menu and press OK.
5. Configure the required serial port settings for the cabled connection. In this example, the serial baud rate is set to 115200 bps. Press OK to save the settings.
Setting up the Trimble Access software
- Set up the base station over the base
- Configure the Base options page of the survey style as needed.
3. On the Base data link page of the survey style, configure the following fields:

- Type: Radio
- Radio: TDL450B/ADL450B if running Access 2024 or higher, choose Custom radio if not.
- Receiver port: This is port 1 for most receivers with a serial LEMO port. If using the USB LEMO port of a receiver (i.e. R780), then select USB serial port.

- Baud rate and Parity: Defaults to115200 and None.
Accept changes to the survey style and store the new survey style.
4. Start the base survey. Note that the transmit LED on the radio is now blinking.
