Trimble Access Creating RTKnet and RTKnet SB Survey Style

  • Select Settings, then Survey Styles.
  • Select New at the bottom of the list of Survey Styles.

  •  Name the new Survey Style, select GNSS for Style Type, and select Accept at the bottom right.

  • Select Rover Options.
  • Survey Type: RTK. Broadcast Format: VRS(CMR). For a single base survey style, the broadcast format would be changed to Multi station (CMR). Select the appropriate Antenna settings for your receiver type.
  • Store points as: Vectors. Elevation mask: 10. PDOP mask: 6.0. Select appropriate GNSS constellations for your receiver. Select Accept at the bottom right.

  •  Select Rover data link.
  • Type: Internet Connection.
  • GNSS Contact: Select the arrow on the right side of the field to proceed to the GNSS contact list.

  • In the connections page, GNSS contacts tab, select New at the bottom of the page.
  • In Edit GNSS Contact, Network Connection tab, name it RTKnet and select Controller Internet.

  • In Edit GNSS Contact, Corrections tab, select Use NTRIP: Yes, Connect directly to Mountpoint: No, fill in your RTKnet username and password, IP Address: rtknet.com and IP port: 2101, Select Store.
  • In connections, GNSS contacts list, highlight new profile and select Accept in bottom right.

  • Back in Rover Data Link the GNSS contact you created populates in the field, prompt for GNSS contact will be left blank.
  • Select Accept at the bottom right.
  • In the RTKnet Survey style list, select Store at the bottom of the screen to complete the setup of your RTKnet survey style and GNSS Contact.

  • Important Note: RTKnet requires an Internet connection to receive corrections. This is either through cellular (sim card in the device), or Wi-Fi connection (connecting to a hotspot or local Wi-Fi).
  • Common issues
    • "Error The Requested address is not valid.." - There is no Internet connection. Check your sim card or Hotspot.
    • "Login failed. Retry" - Username or password is invalid or someone else is already logged in with those credentials.
    • If it stalls part way through loading base data, make sure the receiver is gathering sufficient satellites, and the coordinate system is correct. If the receiver does not have enough satellites to determine a rough location or an incorrect coordinate system is used, the correct base data cannot be determined.

  • When starting the RTKnet survey and Select data source populates, G3_CMRx should be selected for all newer receivers that are Galileo capable (R10, R12, R12I). VRS_CMRx should be used with older receivers that are not Galileo capable (some of your R8 and R6 receivers).
  • When starting the RTKnet SB, or Single Base survey, when Select data source populates, the list auto fills from closest to farthest base. The base at the top of the list should be selected to utilize the closest base station.
