Trimble Access Radio Settings for Trimble TDL450 Base Radio

The first screen you will see is the Device Status Battery: Normal screen. Press the right arrow key to view each of the following settings. Please note that after every change the center circle button must be pressed. Once the center button is pressed, a star will show up on the left side of the screen denoting that the setting has been saved.

  • Set the Frequency you want to use.

  • Press the right arrow to Data Protocol and change it to TTv1.

  • Press the right arrow right to Radio Link (THIS SHOULD NEVER BE SET AT 4800 FOR R10/R12 RECEIVERS AS IT WILL BURN UP THE TDL RADIO!)

  •  Press the right arrow to Operation Mode. This should be set to BASE/ROVER unless you want to use the TDL as a repeater.

  •  Press the right arrow to RX Sensitivity Low (Base).

  • Press the right arrow to Transmit Power. Set to 16W unless going more than a couple of miles. Running the TDL450 at 35W could cause it to overheat especially in hot weather.

  • Press the right arrow to Serial Baud (THIS SHOULD ALWAYS STAY AT 38400).

These settings will get you up and running with the R10/R12 receivers. Duplicate these settings in the internal radios of the rovers. The frequency, radio link rate, and serial baud rate in the rover must match exactly to receive the signal from the base.
